Dermatitis

In the term ‘dermatitis’, ‘derm’ means skin and ‘itis’ means inflammation. Therefore, dermatitis is the inflammation of skin. It has many causes and many forms and usually involves dry skin, itch and rash. Occasionally it may appear as crust formation, blisters formation or oozing fluid.

Although it is a non-contagious condition, it causes discomfort and makes you self-conscious.

TREATMENT

Though not a serious condition, dermatitis does cause discomfort to the patient, hence treatment is required. Treatment will help prevent or manage potential flare-ups.

Although quick to act, topical treatment solely is not the correct treatment for dermatitis as it only removes the signs and symptoms of the disease, but not the disease that exists inside. Neither are antihistamines a permanent solution for dermatitis as they merely suppress the immune response for the duration of their action, but after their action subsides flare ups appear and cause the patient suffering.

Homoeopathic medicines act efficiently in treatment of dermatitis by acting directly on the immune system and removing the disease from within. Few homoeopathic remedies for dermatitis are Sulphur, Graphites, Petroleum, Mezereum etc. It is to be noted that homoeopathic remedies are prescribed on totality of symptoms and individuality, therefore one must consult a homeopathic physician for treatment.
