What is Homoeopathy?

Homoeopathy is a fast growing advanced alternative system of medicine practiced throughout the world. Homoeopathy is a science of therapeutics based on Nature’s Law of cure i.e. similia similibus curantur/ curentur. In this system of medicine, a Similimum i.e. a medicine covering the totality of symptoms is administered to the patients in minute yet optimum quantity. Homoeopathy is a complete system of medicine based on the fixed fundamental principles and is universally applicable to all kind of diseases.

How Homoeopathic medicines are prepared? What are their sources?

Homoeopathic medicines are prepared by a process called Potentisation, by which the medicinal properties lying latent in a natural substance become awakened and developed into activity to an incredible degree so that the action of potentised medicine is deeper and longer. Homoeopathic medicines are prepared from the plants, flowers, roots, animal products, poisons, minerals, micro-organisms and certain metals etc.

Can Homoeopathy be used for treating all type of diseases?

Homoeopathy is a complete system of medicine, which is not limited to disease nomenclature. Since it is largely based on symptomatology and individualization, homoeopathy has an advantage of being able to provide cure for new and unknown diseases as well.

What is the role of Homoeopathy in diseases termed, ‘Surgical Diseases ‘?

Homoeopathy is not against the Surgery but against removal of the ultimate results of the disease rather than the disease in its whole extent. Surgery is needed in certain conditions where mechanical aid is necessary. Homoeopathy has a major role to play not only in pre operative and post operative management but there are a number of diseases labelled as “Surgical Diseases” where homoeopathy works curatively and can avoid the operative procedure entirely e.g. tonsillitis, warts, nasal polyp, urinary stones, fibroid etc.

What are the probable side effects of the homoeopathic medicines?

Homeopathic medicines affect the body’s energy, not its chemical balance and are administered in quantities that are sufficient to bring about cure without producing any unwanted side effects. So homoeopathic medicines are absolutely harmless, non-toxic, free from any side-effects and safe for all including children, adults, pregnant females and old people and all ages and constitutions when prescribed according to the guidelines under the physician’s supervision.

Can Homoeopathic medicine be taken along with the allopathic medicine?

Yes, homoeopathic medicines can be taken along with the allopathic medicines because both the medicines have a different plan of action and there is no contraindication when taken under the physician’s supervision.

Do Homoeopathic medicines have Slow Action?

This is a false notion. Homoeopathic medicines act through nerves, which is the fastest route of action. In acute cases such fever, diarrhea, cold, pains etc, results are yielded within a short duration whereas in the chronic diseases e.g. Psoriasis, Asthma, PCOS, infertility etc, since they are deep seated, complete cure can be achieved in a reasonable amount of time depending on the patient’s vitality and cooperation although improvement shall begin after the first prescription itself.

Are there any Dietary restrictions while taking homoeopathic treatment?

If a particular food item is acting as a causative, exciting/maintaining factor in the disease or an obstacle in the treatment, then it is restricted.

Do Homoeopathic medicines contain steroids?

Homeopathic medicines are NOT steroid preparations. Homoeopathic medicines are prepared by process of potentization in which minute quantities of medicinal substances are processed to increase their curative powers. By this process, medicinal properties are activated and increased. Moreover, the toxic effects of drug substances are rendered harmless by potentisation.
