About Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy is an alternative system of medicine prevalent throughout the world. It was founded by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in the year 1796.After years of thorough study and experiments, he concluded that medicines cure diseases because they can produce similar diseases in healthy individuals and enunciated the Nature’s law of Cure: Similia Similibus Curantur/er i.e. like cures like.

Thus, Homoeopathy is a therapeutic system based on symptoms similarity. The whole aim of homoeopathy is to cure, by not mere removal of symptoms but through complete restoration of health. It is the only system of medicine based on definite universal principles, the seven cardinal principles of homoeopathy:

Law of Similia : Homoeopathy is based on a definite law ‘ Similia Similibus Curantur’. The word Homoeopathy is Greek derivative in which ‘Homoeos’ means ‘Similar’ and ‘pathos’ means ‘Suffering’. So Homoeopathy is a therapeutic method of symptom – similarity.

Law of Simplex : Only one single simple medicine is administered in a given case at a time as only one remedy can be most similar to the condition of any given patient at a time.

Law of Minimum : Homoeopathic medicines are given in very minute doses which is sufficient to effect the necessary change without causing any organic damage i.e. no side effects.

Theory of drug proving : Homoeopathic medicines are proved on healthy human beings of all ages, sex and constitutions to ascertain the disease producing power hence the disease curing power of the medicine. These recordings of drug proving form reliable knowledge of medicines which are very much essential to cure natural diseases homeopathically.

Theory of vital force : Human organism is a triune entity of body, the mind and spirit. And the spirit which is responsible for various manifestations of life is termed as Vital force without which the material organism is capable of no function, no sensation, no preservation. Harmonious function of the vital force keeps the person healthy and when it is dynamically deranged then disease occurs. So to cure a patient, its vital force is to be aroused for recovery.the conception of vital force has given a non materialistic conception of disease to homoeopathic school. This non materialistic approach to the treatment of diseases has made homoeopathy a non injurious and rational art of healing.

Theory of Chronic Disease : chronic diseases are caused by chronic miasms – PSORA, SYPHILIS AND SYCOSIS. Psora is the real fundamental cause and producer of innumerable disease. It is the mother of all the diseases and at least seven-eighth of all the chronic maladies spring from it while the remaining eighth spring from syphilis and sycosis. According to Homoeopathy, cure is only possible by the proper anti-miasmatic treatment.

Theory of Potentisation : homoeopathic medicines are prepared by Potentisation, a process by which the medicinal properties which are latent in natural substances while in a crude state, become awakened and developed into activity for healing the sick. The action of potentized medicines are deeper, longer, more wide spread and dynamic so as to act on the dynamically deranged vital force.
